May is National Foster Care Month!

Posted by on Apr 30, 2015

Happy Friday everyone! And happy First Day of May! (Wait…is that a thing? I’m not sure if that’s a thing…) But what IS a thing is National Foster Care Month! Yay! As an adoption social worker and having had worked in CPS, foster kids and their well-being is a very big passion of mine.  So I am so glad we have the entire month of May to bring awareness of kids in foster care, what is important to them, their issues, and ways to make their lives happier, safer, and more secure.

I hope to do some fun things on my blog this month: listing my favorite fiction and non-fiction books that deal with foster care and adoption, talking about how I came to write Finding Pony, and sharing some good interesting knowledge about foster care. In the meantime, take a look at this video featuring real former foster kids sharing their thoughts on being taken away, what it was like in foster care, and how they coped. Pretty poignant.
